midsummer

I wanted to do add this ranting to the last one but it’s a new point so I’ll make it a new post.

In other news, midsummer fest is here. I had fun getting most of it done. The part for me that sucked was having to sneak in and out of the Exodar twice.

I think I made it clear that I don’t really pvp. Now make me do it for the stupid title (re: mount) and screw up the quests so I have to do it again.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-

Torch juggling – yes. Killing Ahune – FUN ! Getting killed in ironforge and trying to sneak on the tram – Whaaat ?

And seriously, I did it once so it should be on their database that I did it. Why would I have to do it again if it was recorded ? If their system is either so convoluted or ancient that they can’t determine with a quick query if I was telling the truth in my ticket or not, then they’re seriously in trouble. I don’t want to see this game go up with fubared database issues. Please, someone, fix.

The happy end result after much repair billing: I’m a Flame Keeper. Which brings aboot the point: I wouldn’t do this if there wasn’t a mount or something at the end of this chain. I don’t give a crap aboot the title. Frankly, if I see someone with a title like ‘Jenkins’, to me it doesn’t mean a symbol of pride but a warning that I should keep away from this person who went oot of his way to get a very stupid achievement. It’s like an early warning sign so I don’t get overly sad when he tries to cyber my pally.

Not ‘of Silvermoon’, ‘of the Undercity’. Not ‘Explorer’, ‘Patron’ or even ‘Argent Champion’. They’re pretty silly. I’ll just be Carnus, thanks. Unless I get to server spam ‘The Ice Stone is Melting !’, of course. Because that would be annoyingly fun.

mixed moments

So on the weekend we were staying up quite late. It was aboot 3 or 4 am EDT. For whatever reason I wanted to do a battle grounds. It was for the daily quest – I wasn’t just doing it to give away honour kills. The BG was Warsong Gulch and the weekend was Warsong Gulch as well.

Five minutes. That’s all it took for the horde to win. I kinda blinked (my eyes, not the spell) and it was over. I didn’t even donate more than one hk to the alliance. It was brutal how well it worked and by checking the players in disbelief, I could tell by the realm separation and lack of guilds that this was no premade. Is there like a time zone difference where the serious horde players are ? Are you guys only on the west coast or is this the east coast thing to do when you wake up ? Or was I playing with a whole bunch of Australians ? Look, I know you’re oot there, Aussies. You’re fun to play with because it’s really entertaining for us North American-ers just to listen to you talk. I mean, if we sound as funny to you as you do to us, then there’s no wonder you’re always up in Banff on your ski vacations.

Compare that to a few days ago where I got murdered repeatedly. It’s an insult to the defeat when you’re on the Strand of the Ancients and there’s a Tree dancing on the docks with another Tauren friend. I mean, just give it a half assed effort like I do and you’d be surprised. Most of my murders were graphical problems. Apparently the x1950 that came preoverclocked isn’t WoW/Vista friendly anymore. I just learned that I should underclock it slightly to reduce horrible graphical soup on my screen. I just learned this after I found a 4870 on sale. Ah well. I’ll see if I can pass the x1950 on to someone with a less powerful card. It served me well and gave me little lag in Dalaran.

And before people ask why I didn’t choose nvidia, it’s because I like ati. I have an all amd machine with amd bridge motherboard, etc. No intel or nvidia here. And I spend a bunch of time in Linux trying to make WoW work there. And I run slackware. And before I had an ati card, I used a voodoo3. And I play a mage who wants to solo stuff. Yes, I like banging my head against the wall, why do you ask ?

About Author

I play a Fire Mage in World of Warcraft. There doesn’t seem to be many of us around, or at least the ones that do don't write aboot it. It’s all Frost pvp or Arcane this or that which just blows my mind. Seriously. My spec isn't somethng I’d recommend to anyone else in the world. It’s not what you’d call good or efficient. I’m a casual gamer. I stick to the 15$/month form of the cheapest entertainment I can get. Also, I like gin.
