Teaser for Saturday: Zombies. You love em, they love you for your brains. It’s all good.
I think the best comment I have received so far is: The comedy in your “skits?” “episodes?” isn’t very laugh out loud funny. It’s tongue in cheek dry very british humour.
which I would agree on.
The next project will be something completely different. Be expecting it to be a mock podcast (a mockcast ?) due around xmas. This will contrastingly be heavily scripted to try to duplicate the effects.
Balsam Park has always been an enigma in the city. Why is this here ? Was it an asteroid hitting the earth ? A hotbed for stomping dinosaur parties ? A reclamation of much needed soil ? Filling this explanation closes the door to a mystery which plagued imaginations for mere decades if not seconds.
I have also been there as little as eight months ago when there was a premium amount of snow and it may just just as dangerous today as it was in ages past.
Here, we introduce the equally lovely Elizabeth Cloidt to the team who brought a completely different style of presentation. A relative newcomer in comparison, she was brilliant to work with. I’ve since tried to encourage her to get involved in as much local theatre as possible. Often if asked if I could volunteer for some group activity, I reply, ‘No, but I know this female actor who’d be perfect for the part.’ Quite often I’m referring to Elizabeth.
Again, it’s a landscape shot. You’re going to see a lot of these. For this particular one, the camera was balancing on a rickety bleacher that was stashed in the field. A tip of the hat to Michael Kearney as he was crew on said day which meant that he pushed the button. Looking back, it must have been interesting for an actual film student to be flung into a random crazy video experience like this. I am glad he’s a patient and understanding sort.
Up next, we have Elizabeth and the Glacier. You’ll notice that the audio is very high end on this one. Due to recording compromises and high wind weather conditions, I applied a whole bunch of filters to the audio to try to clean it up. It will be polished more for the DVD (interest pending) to have a more round audio sound. I hope, anyway.
Again, as with all the clips, we filmed this as quickly as possible. It was done without scouting, storyboarding or scripting. Liz, as I like to call her, was the most ‘pre’-prepared out of everyone. Although I gave a general idea of what I wanted, usually in the form of one sentence or less, Liz came prepared with a notebook filled with ideas and counterpoints that were either extensions of my original idea or a better one that had more funny bits.
The back end of the website is scheduled to be updated soon, so if for any reason you can’t reach the page, don’t fret.
